Skin Aging – What’s It’s Cause
Healthy Aging December 5th, 2009Isn’t everyone concerned about aging? It’s a very talked about subject in this country and all over the world. How come, you ask. It’s most likely due to the fact that we, as a society, take a lot of pride in having an attractive appearance and looking nice.
Even though the aging process is basically the same for us all, it does affect all of us a little differently. Aging is a very natural process. It’s as natural as life and death. With advanced age, our skin gets less firm. Lines and wrinkles begin to form, especially on the face.
Aging is natural and affects us all. There are things we do that can actually speed up the aging process. This is not what we want.
These are just a few things that can greatly speed up the aging process and make your skin appear older than it is.
Even though it’s important to get some sunshine, too much of it will be damaging to your skin. Over exposure to sunlight can make your skin wrinkle prematurely and cause it to look like leather. Over exposure to sunlight is a major cause of facial skin wrinkling.
Getting too much sun can not only darken the skin, but it can burn off the skin’s natural protection. This allows harmful UV rays to damage our skin and ruin it’s texture. Too much exposure to the sun can even cause skin cancer.
When you stay out in the sun too long without wearing sunscreen, your skin can start to sag and look like leather. While this in itself is bad, skin cancer is the worst. This is something we all want to avoid. You should always wear sunscreen If you’ll be out in the sun for more than ten minutes.
In very strong sun, always wear a hat. This is really important if you have a job that requires you to work outdoors all day. For casual exposure to the sun, SPF 15 sunscreen should be adequate. If you’re going to be outdoors for a long time, you’ll want something that’s stronger like SPF 50.
Smoking is terrible for your skin. While smoking, you bring dangerous chemicals into your body that are not only bad for your general health, but extremely bad for your skin. Avoid smoking if you can. Smoking uses up your supply of vitamin C which your body needs to maintain healthy skin.
Smoke is terrible for your skin. Even second hand smoke can lead to early aging of the skin. Smoke might even be as harmful as over exposure to the sun.
Drinking Alcohol is terrible for the skin. It dilates the blood vessels in your body and increases the blood flow to the skins surface. Not only is drinking too much alcohol bad for your health, it’s terrible for your skin. Stay away from it if possible.
Drinking can cause red cheeks and broken blood vessels after using for a time. This usually results in a haggard appearance.
